The discussion about a NYC Hudson and other steam locomotives brings up a question that has lingered in my mind for some time: One would think that quite a few Claude Wade locomotives are still out there and most of them in their original boxes. After all, Mr. Wade produced a Van Sweringen Berkshire, USRA light and heavy Mikes as well as light and heavy Pacific types, a Consolidation, and some 0-6-0's. I'd wager that most remain in boxes.
A few months ago we all had a chance to pick up a Berkshire already made from Wally's inventory of steam engines. More must be out there. That's pure speculation on my part of course. Going back farther into the dim past, maybe even a few Nord Mikes are still collecting dust on shelves on those gonna-do projects. Hi Jace -- FYI, those 2-6-6-2’s are sweetheart engines, and they originally sold for nearly $2500. Somebody got a heck of a deal! Merry Christmas!
