Doug, Okay, I did a little reading in White's American Railroad Freight Car. Your CM thielsen truck is essentially the same as that used on the Burlington, Santa Fe, Michigan Central, and Central Pacific; perhaps with minor detail variations, but essentially the same. In May 1877 there were about 3,225 cars riding on these trucks.
About 1880, Garey of the New York Central system developed a similar swing motion truck as standard for the NYC and several subsidiaries. This truck was a wood-bolstered truck, while the Thielsen was steel bolstered. Perhaps a step backwards? Anyway, the truck I had mentioned that is from Rene Gourley on Shapeways is a Canadian National truck that is virtually identical to the NYC truck. This style truck had a fourth bar making a different appearance from the "standard" three bar arch-bar truck. So, Doug, I don't know how soon you will be coming out with your trucks, but when you do I am interested in getting some. If they follow your "current pricing" pattern they should be in the $25 range, but I can certainly understand if that price goes up. Everything else is doing the same.... Although I am modeling two "Eastern" roads (B&O, PRR) I would certainly be interested in making a few appripriate cars with your Thielsen trucks. Perchance by the time you come out with them I might have something that you are interested in for trade? (My Scottich frugality coming out I'm afraid) Darrell --- In [email protected], "dsppdoug" <djunda@...> wrote: > > > > > I also have a interest in early 1880's modeling in S scale.
