Jim, it would make sense that with fewer electronics an engine should cost
less. That is not the case with MYH products. I have some standard gauge
(wide gauge) MTH and the pricing with or without all the electronics is
exactly the same.

But your points are well-taken.

am in a group running 18 trains at this time, 2 HO  are "Scale", the rest
are "tinplate" to Hi-Rail depending on the day &  hour.
 
I know guys buying "L" ( the good stuff ) stripping & gutting it and
converting it to "Scale" operation.  At least they were until MTH made it
easier 
for them to avoid that hassle.
