Thanks for he input. When I open the files on my notebook, they look a little 
better. I used the S9000 on Manual, F11, and autofocus, with the camera on a 
tripod and a 2-second delay on the shutter release. Maybe I'm expecting a 
little too much, since I use F22 or F32 with my Fuji S3 DSLR. I think the S9000 
can do better for close-up model photography. I'll keep working with it.

The reason I'm using it right now is because the S3 is in for an internal 
computer "attitude adjustment"
