Have to say I'm a little sad to hear this news. I was once an O scaler and
know MTH products well. Met Mike Wolf (founder of MTH) a few times at Ready to
Roll Trains in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Even presented him a combat American
flag from Afghanistan. Being an avid Missouri Pacific fan I always hoped I
played a part in his decision to bring out more MoPac models. Unfortunately he
started putting Eagle Merchandise Service colors on tank cars, hoppers, and
other equipment that never sported that design. Then when the Union Pacific
brought out it's heritage units he started putting the heritage scheme on all
kinds of frieght cars even though such a freight car design never existed.
Guess what I'm trying to say is that MTH tends to be less than prototypical.
I got into S scale because of SHS's Eagle Merchandise Service rebuilt steel
boxcars and A.R.T. reefers. They were the most beautiful models that this
MoPac fan had ever seen. I was saving up my combat pay to get the M.P. A-B-B-A
F-3 set. While in Iraq last year I visted the Showcase site and discovered
that they were not being made anymore. Was hoping that when the new factory and
tooling was set up that Don would re-release this amazing model. Now I have to
hope MTH will. Just in case, does anyone on this list have a lead on the MoPac
F-3 set? It would definately help this soldier out. Hope MTH keeps up SHS's
high standards and quality.
