As for AM: They have an opportunity to become the Williams (not by Bachmann) of 3 rail. That is, offer great product without whistles and bells at a good value. Good, solid performing equipment that doesn't break the bank. Besides, when I'm in the mood, I still enjoy detailing diesels... and when I do so in S... it's on an AM model.
