I talked to Fred Rouse at the national convention about the Lionel 2-8-2. He said he turned the drivers one of his locos to make them scale. He said it was a lot of work, and if he made one mistake, and ruined the driver, he could not get a replacement. He said he can not take any of his drivers and put them on the Lionel frame. He did say he plans to make a seprate frame, use his drivers and put that under the Lionel 2-8-2 and make it a scale loco. I think he hopes to have it done in less than a year. No idea what it would cost. Yes, you have to pay the $400 for the loco, then another $? for a new frame, but you would have a very nice loco. Such is life.
