Bill: Between Sam, Chuck, myself and other members of Des Plaines Valley; we have over two dozen sound decoder installations; most Tsunami, some LokSound and a few others. We easily have twice as many straight motor decoder installations... We've always used the 1 amp Tsunami's, LokSound's and NCE's, etc.
I don't think we've ever let the smoke out of a decoder because of over amperage in routine operation and, while the layout doesn't have long sustained grades; we do pull long trains that contain brass cars and on occasion switch long cuts of cars on a short, very steep grade "S" curve. We've smoked our fair share because of faulty wiring, but even that hasn't happened in a while maybe we're finally learning which end of the wire to solder!!! <G> The only locomotive that ever challenged that was Jettie's 6 amp monster motored 4-8-4 Niagara not something I expect a Pennsy guy to operate. Bottom line to me is the Soundtraxx folks may come out someday with a higher amperage decoder, but I wouldn't spend three bottle caps on it as I don't think it is needed.... Don't worry be happy... <G> Jim Kindraka Plymouth, WI P.S I have one of the 827118 decoders (dual 567's) too but haven't installed it. I figured I'd use it for single E units, like an AT&SF E8A unit I have. If the E's run in multiples (A-B, A-B-A, etc.) I doubt you would ever tell the difference with all the other racket!! --- In [email protected], "Bill Lane" <bill@...> wrote: > > Item 827118 is dual EMD 567 for E Units.
