I mostly am basing this post on things I have heard but don't know to be true for sure. Most or all model smoke fluid is based on some form of oil or kerosene, and creates smoke when heated to a temperature. Smoke absolutely has side effects. What about a smoke residue left on the trains and layout? I am not interested in creating problems for the trains I have been painting and finishing for the past 20+ years.
The smell of model smoke instantly brings me back to1967 and these photos. http://www.lanestrains.com/About_Me.htm But 1967 is not where I "live" now. I think most "model railroaders" equate model smoke with Lionel and American Flyer, not with advanced or "serious" model train fans. I am a big Tsunami fan. But I **will**figure out how to program the "auto start" CVs so the locos remain silent on layout start up. It is like the old "don't speak unless you are spoken to" rule. I don't want any of my locos making noise unless I ask them to! Auto Start absolutely is different than auto mute. Been there & don't that. Don't really like it.
