My impression, as a newbie, is that this is a hobby - and the fun, for many, is in the art and craft of changing things, not in buying something. Even if it were "perfect", there would be no fun in just running it. For others, they have neither, the time, nor skill, or whatever to want to improve on very nice, acceptable items.
