"Opt in" is a stronger position Have a Check box on the membership form that 
says something like "Yes, I want my contact information (provided above) 
published in the membership directory for other NASG members. Please note: 
while NASG will not provide your information to third parties outside of the 
directory, NASG has no control over the published directories once they reach 
the members and accept no responsibility for data once published."

All that said, this sort of discussion is part of why the NASG Yahoo list was 
created. Also, there are regional VPs part of whose job it is to accept 
comments such as this thread an bring them to the NASG executive. I'm not 
terminating the thread at this point, but strongly suggesting that the NASG 
list is a more appropriate forum.

of having his/her address and phone number, email, etc., included in the 
directory. Giving a person that option is IMHO, just an old-fashioned common 
courtesy.
