I have heard of it, the PRR guys should be much more informed. A similar application would be the SP diesels that are assigned to run through the tunnels on Donner Pass to knock off icicles and snow banks so there is no damage to tall freight cars and ATK domes and hi-levels. They had such items as spinning disks in front of the windshields to help clear icicles.
