This was a good article in Dispatch. I would like more joint NASG/NMRA conventions so that we could spend time with fellow S gaugers but attend the outstanding clinics the NMRA offers on high tech operations (DCC, signaling, etc.). I cannot afford to attend separate conventions. I know there are good reasons that many S gaugers are against the joint conventions. How about conventions that are separate but meet concurrently with the NMRA. - Earl Henry, Nashville In a message dated 1/27/2013 4:34:31 P.M. Central Standard Time, [email protected] writes:
I've long been a firm believer in being part of the NMRA as an S scaler and Sam Powell wrote about it in the latest Dispatch. I just received an email from an official in the South Mt. Division of the MER, NMRA stating his appreciation for Sam's article. It goes: Guys, Here is an interesting read for those of you who worked on the SMD's Second Annual, Free Model Railroader's Meet. We often wonder if it was worth our effort or if we are making a difference. We obviously made an impression on Sam and he wrote a two page article for the National Association of S Gauger's publication the NASG Dispatch urging their members to add the NMRA to their modeling social life. Most of you told me that you received good feed back for your efforts. You also were all enthusiastic about our Division continuing this type of program as a service to the modeler. I am so glad that you folks feel that way. Sam's article is another very positive boost that supports the direction we have taken to reach out to other modelers. We all have another opportunity coming up this April when we do a Spring Model Railroader's Meet with Mainline Hobby Supply.
