I hate to say this, but I would like for both Lionel and MTH to think outside
their own respective boxes. A true scale modeler might like something without
the proprietary internal electronics, without smoke, LEDs instead of bulbs,
without huge couplers, without huge holes in pilots, without sound, but simply
with a DCC 'plug' into which a decoder of the customer's choice could be
inserted. And provisions for installing a speaker or two, if desired. (Not
everyone likes sound.) If no decoder is plugged in, it runs on plain good old
fashioned DC and nothing else.

Not to mention having NMRA-compliant wheelsets.

Now that would be a scale loco in my book. It ain't just the wheels, folks, it
is the entire package.

I have not heard any comments from Lionel regarding sales volume of so-called
scale products. Come to think of it, I have not heard comments about sales
volume from anyone anywhere. Could it be considered confidential?

Just thinking........Ed Loizeaux
