This afternoon, I ordered rapid prototyping patterns for the SAL B7 boxcar; it will take about 10 days to receive them. Included in the patterns are 2 sets of multi-cavity molds to produce cast urethane side and end grab irons. These parts will be made from a new, flexible material, pigmented brown (or black or whatever I want to use during production) that are VERY rugged and close to scale in appearance. They will be made available separately aside from being included in the kit.
This new material will be used for future detail parts, including other grab iron configurations, ladders and stirrups. Jim King President, Smoky Mountain Model Works, Inc. Ph. (828) 777-5619 www.smokymountainmodelworks.com Trainmaster, Craggy Mountain Line RR www.craggymountainline.com
