They were one of the first companies to use laser technology in model making for S. They discontinued production after about 10 years and Bill Banta took over the line as part of his Banta Model Works. Their kits are fairly straightforward, and the instructions are usually sufficient. Most of their kits reflected Colorado narrow gauge, but they had some others that were more “generic”. If you look at American Model Builders kits in HO, they are very similar to the line of B&S Co. The recent recession in the economy plus the general aging of the model makers has removed a significant number of building kits from the production lines. However, if you are looking for more structures, there are several good sources of existing stock: Doug Peck’s Port Lines Hobby Supply, Jeff Wilson’s Hoquat Hobbies and Ron Sebastion’s Des Plains Hobbies. Bill Wade’s BTS also has a number of structures in S still available, though he has cut back on new production. Also, you will find almost anything by just asking for it on this group – we have closets full of stuff that has gone unused! Welcome to S and have fun! Bill Winans ---------------------------------- Hi,My name is Arthur Bailey and have just joined this group I have been doing scale model building for the past 50 years beginning in HO switching to On3, O, G(1/32 scale) and live steam (1 1/2" and 3/4" scale). Now that I am retired I have decided, after viewing S scale trains at local shows, to give S a try. My interests are with brass models and kit building. I have little interest in RTR plastic models.I recently purchased a "Branch Line Station" kit made by "The Building and Structure Co.". Searching the internet has not given me much information on this company. Can anyone fill me in on this company? I would like to know more about what kits they sold and any information about building the kits.Regards,Art
