Anyway, once the storm over the 4-6-0 had subsided, I decided to run a freight train to Mooar and leave it, and return with an outbound train. This involved making up a train at Terminal District with RS-1 #30 (steam generator equipped since it also switches trains in the coachyard). Once this was accomplished, #30 went back to the TD engine outbound.
Since the two F-7 A-B-A sets have left the property, followed by GP-9 #42, SHABBONA has been down to the original five brass units that originallyit, inspired it, via the original IOWA CENTRAL plan in the July, 1990, Model Railroader, with the exception of three ALCO Models road switchers, RS-2 #34, and RS-3's #35 & 37. Since these units have been sitting in storage at TD, I decided to use a pair of them to take the freight train to Mooar, and return with the outbound billing. So, pulling up on the storage track, I cut RS-2 #34 off in the clear and proceeded down the South Main, and tied onto the train, which was made up on the North Main. Tying the engines on, I left the train sit while I went to Mooar and prepared the outbound train, using EMD SW-1 #22, one of three EMD's left on the roster (the other two are the FP-7's for the passenger trains). Once Humongous had received a long overdue switch, I went back to TD, set the throttle selectors to #5, and started the freight train there towards Mooar. This is one place I use the Sympatico throttle I bought a couple of months ago, because it has a memory feature that allows a train to keep moving when a throttle is unplugged and moved to another position. Extra 33 East came around the bend and had a clear signal at MZ Tower which allowed it to keep moving. With the throttle now attached at Mooar Yard, it progressed through Mt. Zion and around the Big Curve at Bentonsport and into Bonaparte. With a clear order board there, it continued on and came around another curve and had the line-up at MJ Tower. Proceeding over the diamond, it came around the main line curve behind the Mooar enginehouse and proceeded through the crossover into Mooar Yard proper. Pulling through a clear track, it cut off its train at the East end of the yard ,and came back up the Yard Main to park the engines at the Mooar engine house, where it has been waiting for RS-1 #33 to get its outbound train together so it cqn leave again. The road crew has "gone to beans" while waiting for #33 to get their train together More later as this run transpires boB Nicholson ________________________________________________ --- In [email protected], "John" <armstong5717@...> wrote: > > You should model trucks and buses > > They would not leave any "tracks" for your wife to find. > > John Armstrong > ----- Original Message ----- > From: shabbona_rr > To: [email protected] > Sent: Sunday, May 19, 2013 10:06 AM > Subject: {S-Scale List} FNF - May 17, 2013 > > > > Well, this FNF doesn't start on the happiest of notes.
