I'm helping a friend sell his large S gauge collection. Attached is a list
of items that he has available for sale.

About the sale process: The sale will be conducted as a whole-lot,
open-book-bid auction from now until July 7th. As bids come in for the
whole lot, I will notify the group of the bid amount (not the buyer, just
the bid amount). Provided the lot doesn't sell, a piece-by-piece,
closed-book-bid "silent" auction will follow. I'm trying to sell this as a
lot first to expedite the sale.

About bidding: Please send me an email with your name as the subject
line. List the amount you would like to bid for the whole lot. The
minimum bid is $8,300. This comes to just $48 per item for a lot that is
mostly S-helper and has locomotives in it (including one SHS Consolidation
with sound!). If you would like to bid over this amount, please do so in
$50 increments. If I receive bids of equal amounts, the bid received first
will be registered and I'll notify the subsequent bidders that their bid
was not high enough.

About shipping: The buyer will pay the actual shipping charges for the
shipping service of the buyer's choice. Insurance is the buyer's option
(but I'd think you'd want it). If no insurance is purchased, then I am not
responsible for what the shipping service does to your item. If you do
purchase insurance, I'll work with you to get payment from the postal
service. All items will be packaged well for shipping.

About the items: My friend is a high-scaler, meaning that he uses AF
wheelsets with scale couplers (either Kadee 802 or SHS). That will be the
arrangement you'll find on almost all of these cars. As I've inventoried
the cars, I've tried to make note of any different arrangements with
respect to wheelsets and couplers. For the cars listed as having "Both"
wheels, I've only inspected a representative sample (20 or so) of the boxes
to see if the scale wheelsets are still there. I haven't opened a box
where all of the pieces are not there, but I'm not guaranteeing there won't
be some missing scale wheelsets. I've also marked the stock number and
road number of each car. As these cars have been run and some roadnames
have multiple road numbers, I cannot guarantee that the road number in the
box goes with the stock number on the box. I recorded all of the road
numbers so you can verify that the item you're purchasing is not identical
to something already in your collection. All of these cars are in very
good condition.

Happy bidding!
