Hello; First off, please sign your posts. Not only is it a rule, but you will get a better response if people can address you by name instead of a yahoo I.D.
I gather you are new to model railroading as well as S scale. The good news is that the basics of designing a layout are the same in S as other scales, only the precise products and change and the size of the whole grows by 1/3rd (compared to HO). I suggest reading a bit on the following blogs for some beginner info: Eric Hannesman's blog: http://mrsvc.blogspot.com/search/label/Inspirational Layouts Lance Mindheim http://lancemindheim.com/2012_blogs.htm His "No Skills" layout is do-able in S, substitute 'S'cenery UnLimited code 100 flex track and No. 6 turnouts. For S specific layout designs, consider at least these: Peter Vanvliet's http://pmrr.org/ Trevor Marshal's http://themodelrailwayshow.com/cn1950s/ There are lots of others, but that would be a good start. Also, get the 'S'cenery UnLimited catalog for a good overview of S products, and get to know Port Lines Hobbies, Hoquat Hobbies and Des Plains Hobbies as the primary general suppliers of S products by different manufactures. http://www.sceneryunlimited.net/ http://www.portlines.com/ http://www.hoquathobbies.com/ http://www.desplaineshobbies.com/store/department/22/Railroad-S-Scale/ Pieter E.
