Thanks for the compliment, Bob. But your well written piece on the Jacksons in the September MR and Bob Hogan’s stunning cover story in the June RMC and are hard acts to follow! And then there are the many pieces by multiple Perles Award winner Brooks Stover, not to mention the many excellent columns, reviews and articles by champion S author Dick Karnes.
I agree with the others that there is a great S layout in Houston that should be right up there in the “Bigs”. I have seen the Great Plains Northern Terminal Railroad, and there are lots of exceptional scenes and equipment that would represent S scale very well. What are we waiting for? Curious background story: Over 2 years ago, Paul Scoles asked me to submit an article on my layout to RMC, to help attract visitors to the 2012 Seattle National Narrow Gauge Convention. Paul thought that publicizing the variety of layouts to be featured at the convention would be a draw for folks who were not hardcore narrow gaugers. After the convention was over last Fall, and my piece was not published, I asked Bill Schaumburg at RMC to return it to me. I never heard a word from him about it until last month, when the new editor at RMC, Chris D’Amato, sent me a proof of my article to review for the August issue! Do you realize that the articles that we did on my old layout were published in 1991 and 1998? And that I have moved and built new layouts twice since then? Hopefully, my modeling has improved over those many years! Thanks again, Roger From: Bob Werre Sent: Friday, August 02, 2013 1:18 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: {S-Scale List} Another great S layout featured Congratulations Roger. You might be the most published S guy ever. I shot your layout for 3/16's and Model Railroader, Later you shot the newer layout for S Scale Modeler and now RMC--am I missing anything? Dispatch perhaps! This also makes at least three S layouts in major publications this year: Roger's , Brooks and Jackson's. This hopefully is a trend in that S layouts are being started and actually finished! This makes up for the well known 'great' layouts we lost in the last few years--Jess Bennett, John Bortz, Dave Jasper, and now Frank Titman's. Hopefully more great layouts are being built as we waste time on these Yahoo groups. Bob Werre PhotoTraxx All; I just finished reading the August issue of Railroad Model Craftsman. This months issue features our own Roger Nulton's Monon forth subdivision. There are many very nice photos as well as a well written article on Roger's layout. Roger's modeling is second to none. Congratulations Roger! Jeff Sankus
