Mr. Were, I am probably the person to ask and hope to clear up any confusion. You are correct that the CGW assembled convention cars were cancelled. The convention committee felt that it was prudent to cancel the project as we were unable to deliver the cars and could not guarantee delivery in six more months. The ultimate responsibilty for this failure is mine as I took the job. I could parrot excuses, but the facts don't change, the assembled cars didn't happen. As tooling corrections were made and additional tooling was completed, we decided to release the car as a kit, with the results introduced at the 2013 NMRA convention in Atlanta with initial deliveries made at the NASG convention in Scranton. A PRR car in Scranton, PA only seemed appropriate. Apparently, it was as it has been the fastest selling project we have ever done. As some know, we ran out and had to put more kits together.
Regarding the CGW decals and others, the art for assembled cars was completed almost three years ago. Preparation for decal art is simply a matter of rearranging the art elements and adding items for a more comprehensive decal set. I hope this clears up any confusion. Additionally, the question of assembly jigs has come up. I have assembled over a dozen of the cars without the assisance of an assembly fixture. The cars we displayed in Atlanta and Scranton were assembled without any fixtures. The cars were inspected by many with no apparent issues. Trucks. We also had the correct PRR 2D-F8 truck tooled and parts shot, but do not have a source of 33" wheels to offer them at a reasonable price. We will keep working on that. Doors. We have been asked to make the doors available as a seperate part. I will have more doors run and will add them to our web store shortly. Lastly, I have been asked if there will be any other variations of the car done. All I can say at this point is it took a long time to get to this point, But one would have to have rocks in his head not to do variations of such an essential car.
