Earl,
It used to be you could click on a posters name and a drop down box allowed you to automatically put their e-mail address in and reply off list. I've noticed that attachments that I could once just click on to see now require about 3 additional steps to view. Still there just more work. I suspect the same on private e-mail addresses. The Southern Railway yahoo group did find a way to put a photo of Southern 2-8-2 on the Home Page.
Many decades ago I read in a management textbook that you should change the lighting or the décor in a office at least every six months. Workers became more productive and it didn't matter if you raised or lowered lighting levels, same productive increase. Perhaps the same theory at work here. Woman have been known to rearrange furniture just for changes sake. I note the new head of Yahoo is a woman.

This is the first I have heard of this problem of not being able to reply
offline, if offline means send it to an address other than the yahoogroup
address.
I just tested it by sending it to myself. It worked, just like it
always has for me.
I use AOL. Is there any reason this change would not have affected
me?
Oh, now I see the tabs on the bottom of the page, and one of them is "Reply
to Sender". I liked that when it used to be an option years ago. But
all you need to do is hit "Reply", erase the yahoogroup address, and then enter
the address of the person you want your reply to go to.
Am I wrong? What am I missing?

Hi Butch --
Your screen might be different (this new format sucks),
but if you go to the
bottom of the email page, my screen has several
options in grey boxes with
blue print. One of them is “reply to sender”.
Click on that and it sets
up a personal email...
Good luck!
