Given that we must churn this topic a little more before putting it to bed for a while....I was impressed by the thinking here by C.F.
Im not familiar with the particular Mattel set..havent seen it down here...( and I dont miss much)...but you would have to agree that something 1:64 would be right up their alley.. seems they only need to taken in hand and shown the promised land..hallelujah !!!You folks done need a new train set....yes sirree ....my wordy wordy!!! lol Seriously....someone closer there ought to write them... Many years back...the Colonials amongst us ( Canucks counted here...lol ) will remember the MINIC motorway that Triang/Hornby brought out to interact with their trains..a moderate success in its day...wasnt like slot cars per se..though exact same mechanics..scale was 1:72 to match the trains ( OO ) NOW ...now !! as MAttel already have huge ...mega..Ginormous customer base with their cars...you would have to think that there would have to be some sort of market...for a Train set of sorts to match...same scale...of course...and lets get fair dinkum here as long as its with in a bulls roar of scale-like...but looks LIKE a real train...then we have a winner all round...the kids arent ( probably ) going to rivet count !!!..They want action....colour etc Now as the mathemeticians amongst you lot will know...all car collectors will probably buy some mattel, but not all collectors will buy trains... ( one being a sub group of other..lol )....but not knowing what real numbers are here....conjecture !! ( lovely word possums!!)..leads me to think..if they could sell a lot of the other-funny set.....well maybe they could sell a few better ( read closer to real S..) sets!!...sure put the flashing lights on....even have a smashem up derby box car..car screams around hot wheels track....lines up the box car..and in tru BOND style etc..straight through.....the toy designers could have a field day!! lol.. think the pills are wearing off again >:~)) Richard S-Trains list sponsor: http://www.americanflyertrains.com All the "Flyer" you desire...books and accessories too!
