Chris made a great point about the kerosene one buys today. Stanley Steam Automobiles burned kerosene in a vaporizing burner, not unlike the old Coleman camp stoves we remember fondly (??~!!!). Modern Kerosene does not vaporize and burn correctly in the Stanley burner, so most Stanley owners now burn a mix of regular (no-lead) gasoline and diesel motor fuel. The quality of most kerosene degraded some in the late 'teens, and even more so after the '50s. S' David D.
