Saw some RC cars called the "Two Lane Series" at Target; $1.99 for the
'55 Chev, '70 Chevelle, and others.
There were RC "Entertainment Series" cars for $2.99. I bought a "Jimmy
Dean" black '49 Merc. Black was a common color back then because it held
its color, while other colors quickly degraded. The RC "50th Corvette
Anniversary" series has some nice models that appear to be S scale. It
was nice to find a hardtop sporty car, since most of the die cast sporty
cars are convertibles.

JL also came through with some vehicles that are not way undersize.
Their '55 T-bird looks right on for S scale. They have Dodge, Chev, and
Ford mid-70's van that look usable. Strangely, they are all slightly
different in size. The Dodge looks undersize. I would need to measure
the Ford and the Chev to tell you which of two is correct. I did not
have a scale with me to measure them, but I believe that these should be
6 foot wide. Perhaps someone can measure a real van and the JL models to
tell us which one is correct. These vans have changed very little in
many years, so measuring a current van should be accurate for the 70's
vans.

Target had closeout pricing on the Matchbox collector's series making
these close to price competitive with RC. I saw a '57 Ford convertible,
and a late '50's Cadillac sedan.
