Good eye, John. They are too big, too wide, that is. The trailer 
length comes in at about 45 scale feet, which is protoypical enough, 
but their width is over 9'4", well over the 8'6" prototype maximum. 
They also have way too much "air" over the tires.

The spine cars themselves will not carry true 1/64th scale trailers 
(such as those by AM, SHS, Ertl, Winross, PEM/Hartoy, Spec-cast, 
Penjoy, etc.) because the spine is too wide to get between the inner 
wheels of accurately scaled trailers. 

Another shortcoming is that Lionel used their usual AF freight trucks 
on the spinecars, which of course depict "plain bearing" trucks, not 
roller bearing trucks.

Other than all that, the cars are... uh, real spiffy. ;^)
