Hi, A lot of people are digging out their vintage trains and setting up holiday displays. If you are having a problem with a steamer derailing frequently, one cause may be the front pilot truck. There should be a conical spring that forces the front pilot truck down onto the rails. Often this spring is missing, broken or badly worn. Replacement parts are available through our parts dealers. Replacement is a bit tedious, I think. I recommend removing the front pilot truck and winding the spring on carefully from one end until it seats perfectly. Hope this helps makes your holiday layout more enjoyable.
