Tim, the paddles you get to stir a gallon of paint are usually a hardwood, maple in our area, and make great sawmill lumber. The thickness is correct on the thinner paddles and cut into strips 7/16" by 2 13/16" will work well in the sawmill. Sand all sides with a fine grade sandpaper, 220, until very smooth. These have worked well even in the basement humidity. Good Luck and best to all. Charlie
