Hi all, After a 1 year hiatus due to the subdued holiday decorations at the Oregon State Capitol following the tragedy of 9/11/01, the American Flyer train is back this year meandering through the snow covered historical Salem, Oregon area scale structures under the big tree in the Rotunda. With the one exception, we've run there for most of December every year since 1984. I live in nearby Keizer, Oregon, and our little newspaper ran a nice article that I thought you all might find of interest. Here is the website of the article:
http://www.keizertimes.com/news/story.cfm?story_no=4108 The little girl and her grandmother just showed up while we were talking. The paper also ran a picture of me holding an engine, but this picture is much better! My only regret is that he didn't give enough credit to Don Curtis who not only supervised the initial project by the inmates, but is the real genius behind the realism of the structures and layout. The reporter wanted the Keizer boy makes good(?) angle, I guess. I guess they wanted to do this feature on me because the Chair of the Capitol decorating committee is a neighbor of ours in Keizer, and she mentioned my name in connection with the model train in an article that appeared Thanksgiving weekend. Merry Christmas and a prosperous train filled New Year! Alan Bennett S-Trains list sponsor: http://www.americanflyertrains.com All the Flyer you desire...books and accessories too!
