Hi guys, My class delivered an American Flyer Christmas layout to a local senior center yesterday. A month-and-a-half of volunteer lunch half-hours and a nonrunning 307 donated by a TCA member turned into a beautiful foam under-the-tree layout built according to the plans in December's Collecting Toy Trains. It included handpainted buildings, a gift box flatcar, a boxcar, a caboose, and several Christmas trees. The kids worked their hearts out.
We delivered the layout, treats, and the kids even sang Christmas tunes (unaided by their talentless teacher). It was pretty cool to watch today's 6th graders do something for someone else without thinking about themselves.
