At the risk of stirring the pot unmercifully�� Let's buy AF back from Lionel. Seriously! Lots of folks here (and over on the Scale group as well) are complaining about the quality, selection and responsiveness of the Lion to the Flyer community. I don't think Lionel is ever going to risk their market share by building up the only real competitor they ever had for the "toy train" market. The market is smaller than it used to be and why spend money on dulicate tooling?
Apologies to all who will/are taking offense to my calling AF a toy train (and also to you loyal MARX lovers out there). But frankly, they're ALL toy trains. (That includes you HO guys too) Some trains are just more faithful to prototypical, proportions, detail, and paint scheme. AND some modelers are more faithful to prototypical operations and modeling than others. More power to you proto guys (and gals), I love to look at your layouts! Some are unbelievable in their realism. And I know secretly you prototypical guys REALLY want to come over to my layout and load a few barrels with Louie. But, back on subject. I've got $10 dollars to spare in buying back AF from Lionel. Who's with me? BTW, does anyone interested in doing this actually KNOW how to make an engine, for mass production? I'm not talking about Don and Doug and the other folks that have their hands full doing the beautiful models that are currently available for all us hungry S-Gaugers. I mean you guys that are ready to start up a business and make it into a viable player in the toy train market. I think our first product should be SIM-Flyer. That would sell and the production costs will be low. Very little tooling. Ten dollars�..
