<<<I've got a Franklin with a dying smoke unit. Can anyone offer advice on rebuilding one of these? It has the crimped on fiber board, so it is not so easy like the regular units. Also, how many turns of nichrome wire should I use? >>>
Steve--- We have replacement smoke elements, already mounted on a disk-insert, for those small smoke units. You just file the lip of the old disc until it will pull out. Insert the new element, with a little wick material around it, and seal it with epoxy. It's actually an easier and quicker repair than a normal smoke unit.
