This may be old news to some,...but today at K-Mart, I found a 1959 Ford P/U, with
utility bed and a working lift (cherry picker),..made by "Route 66" for K-Mart. Even
comes with a token metal Texas license plate,..for $2.99. I have seen cars before by
Route 66, and thought they looked much like Racing Champions,....looked at the bottom
of the Ford truck, and sure enough,...that's what it says.
Small logo on the door, and a large one on the lift, say "Johnson Electric",...I
may take them off,..on the door it also says,..'EST. 1972'....hmmmm.....started a new
business with a '59 truck!!
Although,..in '72, a '59 wasn't THAT old!! These would make nice power or telephone
trucks on the layout,...maybe new paint and logos.
