I have an American Flyer train set that has been in storage for years. As one might
expect the plain track sections, track switches and wheels on the locomotives need
cleaning.

a) Plain track sections. These are simple sections that just plug together. There are
no plastic or electrical items such as solenoids, etc. There are a lot of track
sections. Is there safe and effective some way to clean these in mass such as dipping
them in some solvent?

b) Track switches. These include plastic and electrical items. There are only a few
track switches. These may likely need to be done individually by hand. Is there a
method, a particular solvent, sand paper grit etc., if applicable, that could be
recommended?

c) Locomotive wheels. It would be nice if these could be cleaned without dis-assembly
of the locomotives but maybe dis-assembly is not a big deal and in the end yields
materially better results. There are only a few locomotives. Perhaps the answer to
this item is similar to item "b" above. Is there a method, a particular solvent, sand
paper grit etc., if applicable, that could be recommended?

Thanks and best regards,

Patrick O'Sullivan
