Edward G. (a wise guy, see) comments:
>What's really funny is now you MEMORY Whiners have Sat(ellite) or Cable and
>you have over 200 channels and complain there's nothing to watch ....

And there hardly is, Ed. The amazing thing about television is that over
the years there has ALWAYS been a core grouping of 5 or 6 really good shows
that everybody talks about and quotes lines from and remembers as a part of
our culture. The rest is crap. Back in the beginnings of television, they
didn't know you could program crap, so they put up a test pattern.

Since we're on the subject, I still have our first two television sets. The
first, which we got in 1950, is a 7" Motorola. I have the owners manual as
well. It received Channel 1, which was eliminated from the TV broadcast
spectrum, but which would handily receive "Lifetime" on Cablevision today.
Imagine, a 1950 cable-ready set! I also have the magnifying glass and
mounting brackets, made so the whole family wouldn't need glasses to watch
Milton Berle.

The second TV is a Magnavox 17". How huge it was! My father had the store
install an RCA audio jack with a switch to run the sound through the Hi-Fi
Amplifier. Home theater in Black and White. We Zizzo's were Television
Pioneers, alright.
