For AF silver matches on touch-ups, I have used Floquil Bright Silver
with success. Also they sell Old Silver which may be mixed with
Bright Silver for variation. Regarding mixing AF and Gargraves track
and their pins, I have been using AF switches and Gargraves flex
track using either Flyer pins and Gargraves brass pins without any
problems. The comments regarding wider radius curves also take
advantage of longer sections of track with fewer joints to nick
traction tires. Greater longevity for original AF locomotives is the
name of the game. Gargraves also sells stainless track in curved and
flex sections which is good for those of us that railroad in the
basement.
