Hi Gang, Like I used to tell my Aquarium Customers when I was in the fish business. There are many ways to get from point a to point b. Some may be longer and tedious, and some may be quick. The same can be said about cleaning track. A bright Boy if I remember correctly, has very fine abrasives in it also. Probably equal to about a 400 grit wet dry paper. I have been using 400 grit wet dry paper as long as I can remember along with denatured alcohol after sanding. I have recently started using a very fine sponge type sandpaper along with the alcohol. I have never ruined a piece of track yet. I have had some of my track and trains now for 41-1/2 yrs. This has worked very well for me and for many others. I have excellent contact with no sparking (arcing to be exact for the nit pickers). I'm not about to change either. I don't have too. My advice is, if you have rusted track, buy the new track on the market. It's solid nickel silver. It will stay clean with just a rub down from the alcohol if you wheels are fairly clean. Much easier than rubbing on Wahl Clipper oil or the Caig product, then rubbing it back off. I run my trains a lot. Currently every, other week since last year with an average of 11 hours per weekend. No problems here. If something works for you go with it. If it doesn't, try one of the ideas from the guys on the list. Remember though, Their is not just one correct way to clean, or keep clean, the track we are using for our trains. Now, clean your track and run your trains. And don't forget to have fun and relax with our hobby. People get so uptight sometimes. Geesh!
