<<<<<I purchased a manual riveting set from the internet:
Haven't used it yet?
Do any of you have any experience with this manual riveting repair or is
it a fantasy?
I poked around the internet and heard about an Arbor press that used to
be at Lionel Service stations?
I don't know here you get the "tools" (back sets and riveters) for set a
press anyways.?
I think riveting eyelets are available at the supplier sites...
I would like a factory look for repair and would appreciate any advice
or comments.
Are there services that do riveting of AF stuff if my attempts fail?>>>>>

The Brakeman's Riveter that you bought is an excellent hand-held riveting
tool. I use mine all the time, and we offer it for sale here as well. (For
those of you unfamiliar with it, check our website (www.portlines.com) .
You'll find pictures of all its components on our TOOLS page.) With various
tips, you can set truck rivets, truck eyelets, remove link couplers, install
link couplers, set the tiny mini-rivets, and reassemble knuckle couplers
after repairing breakage. Unlike the cheaper tools that you hit with a
hammer, you don't feel like you need three hands to do the job!!!!

An arbor-press tool for AF and Lionel repairs is available from Hobby Horse
Products. I have one of these in the workshop, with all the tips for AF
repair jobs to go with it. It is an expensive unit..... upwards of $500 by
the time you buy the press and all its AF components. It does everything
noted above, and more, such as wheel removal, and wheel pressing. Easier
and quicker to use than the BR, but more $$$$.

Obviously, all rivets and eyelets are available, and we stock em all.

Don't want to do it yourself......no problem. We can do any of that work for
you, very reasonably, as long as you are willing to pay two-way shipping.
