I posted a while back about painting black re-pro roadbed, and didn't get many responses,..but thought I would pass this along. Yesterday I took a half piece of AF gray roadbed that has turned the usual faded dirty gray color,..and sprayed it with gray primer. Came out looking great,....however, it sure makes it look like "NEW" gray roadbed,...won't blend with the older faded pieces!! But,...will look better then using gray with BLACK roadbed!! Maybe using a very diluted brownish color as a wash over the roadbed would blend it in better with the older pieces. Of course I do have a mix of "newer" looking gray roadbed mixed with the more faded pieces,...on my little Spring layout,..doesn't look TOO bad! Anyway,....we'll see how the painting goes when I get the BLACK re-pro road bed for my K-Line 27" radius track.
Here's a question,....would it be bad to re-paint AF gray roadbed?? Would that be a no-no ??? I could paint it ALL to be a perfect match,....but would that be a bad thing to do with original AF roadbed?? Rick "Spray can in hand" Evans.
