Magongo From: Swaziland Solidarity Network, South Africa * * *MEMORANDUM OF DEMANDS TO THE KINGDOM OF SWAZILAND* As the Swaziland Solidarity Network in South Africa, a movement in solidarity with the people of Swaziland, in their demand for democracy, we submit this memorandum on behalf of our members, allied organisations and supporters of the democratic struggle in Swaziland. We call on your authority to seriously address itself to these demands as they concern the safeguarding of ordinary peoples lives, regional peace and security and in the interest of the future and as a matter of urgency in the interest of the people of Swaziland. We call on your regime to stop all forms of repression against political dissent and opposition parties and to release all political prisoners amongst them: 1. Bheki Dlamini- SWAYOCO President 2. Amos Mbedzi- A South African citizen, ANC, SACP, SSN, MKVA member 3. Zonke Dlamini-a member of SWAYOCO We demand an end to arbitrary detentions of activists and the scrapping of the Suppression of Terrorism Act (STA) and all repressive legislation. Your regime should stop its corruption of state resources. Also to be stopped is the tremendous suffering and misery induced by the system of Tinkhundla. To rectify this unjust system we call for the unbanning all political parties. *We demand a democratically elected constituent assembly to develop a new constitution for a democratic constitutional Multi-party democracy.*** We call for the immediate Removal of the draconian 1973 decree which bans political parties, and all forms of legitimate political activity. We demand the unconditional return of all Swazi exiles back to their country. We expect a formal reply to this memorandum of demands- within seven working days or we will intensify the campaign of pickets, marches and diplomatic work to isolate your autocratic government.
