Indeed it is. I am implying that most of these artists are not politicized
and therefore are either unaware or do not care about the situation in
Swaziland, Palestine etc. We therefore need to do systematic work of getting
them on board with the help of the relevant organisations, like the Cosatu
affiliated union, Cwusa.

The Swaziland Solidarity Network (SSN) has alleged that DJs Oskido, Sbu and
Ganyana will not be coming to the country this weekend until Swaziland
becomes 'democratic'.

DJ Oskido is scheduled to perform for the first time at Tinkers tomorrow
whereas; DJs Sbu and Ganyana were meant to perform at the Bikers Party on
Saturday and Sunday.
No mention is made on the statement issued by SSN spokesperson Lucky Lukhele
of South African DJ Glen Lewis who is also meant to perform at the Bikers
Party on Saturday.
The statement reads, "As the cultural boycott against Swaziland intensifies,
the Swaziland Solidarity Network is humbled by the response by well-known
South African artists".
Lukhele further states that more South African artists are putting the
democratisation of Swaziland before profits and that their attitude must be
lauded.
"In fact we hope that all pro-democracy activists will respond to this by
supporting these artists' music and attending their concerts in South Africa
en masse," it further reads.
Lukhele describes this as the best ever message of solidarity from South
African artists and hopes that others will emulate it.
Drawn for comment, the organiser of the Bikers Party Sifiso Motsa seemed
puzzled and had no idea about the function of the SSN.
Nonetheless, he said, "Who said that? We are talking directly to Sbu and
Ganyana. They have been paid and they are coming that's all. We don't deal
with the Swaziland Solidarity Network but the DJs themselves."
On the other hand, Tinkers owner Tyrone said he was still waiting for a
response from Oskido's manager at 4pm and that 'life goes on' if in fact the
South African fails to pitch.
