PUDEMO salutes and pledge to stand by workers of Swaziland against
banning orders

Tinkhundla divides – TUCOSWA unites!

Tinkhundla dictatorship knows no shame. We really live in very
interesting times in our country. What others would regard as a
Hollywood scripts or thriller movies happens in practice in our
beloved country, Swaziland on a daily basis.

The recent and shameless declaration of war against workers by the
regime in its banning and de-registration of the Trade Union Congress
of Swaziland (TUCOSWA) is a direct result and manifestation of this
daylight human horror. The explanation that it was erroneously
registered is false and a desperate attempt to reverse the
immeasurable gains and strides that workers in the country have made.

The shocking levels of tinkhundla desperation should help rally all
global compatriots around one common goal, the total elimination of
this heinous system, the tinkhundla royal aristocracy.
PUDEMO, the most reliable, trusted and proven ally of the Swazi
working class assures workers that as has been happening throughout
our close to 30 years of existence, we remain solidly behind you and
shall spare neither energy nor space in defence of your rights to
organize and improve the living and working conditions of not just
working people, but the lot of the Swazi nation.

We are proud of our role since the formation stages, with the telling
record of 30 years of hard sacrifices. We have been jailed together
with yourselves dear comrades, we have been persecuted together, we
have organized together, we have fought the most vicious and brutal
system in modern times and in all these instances, we never shied away
from our responsibility to confront the enemy in the trenches.

We are not so much of paper tigers than we are freedom fighters, ready
and determined at all times to be with all oppressed and fighting
masses wherever they happen to be. We know too well that your cause is
not just yours, but for all the oppressed and daily exploited masses
of our country. We shall never leave you alone, we dare not allow the
enemy to divide us, even through tendencies that we have witnessed
these past few days, as part of a new front by the enemy to divide our
people and divert attention from the real issues, we must remain
focused.

You know, from your own experience, who to turn to when things get
tougher, you know who stand with you in the picket lines, you know who
is ready to go with you to jail and you know who is the force always
acting in defence of unity and principled revolutionary action. We
don’t claim easy victories, which is the main reason why we say this
shall be a battle, but a battle that must be fought and won, because
history so dictates.

This kind of reaction by the regime in Swaziland is a clear
confirmation that the Tinkhundla system of governance is:
• Undemocratic and is not founded on democratic values.
• Primary enemy of unity, hence its constant resort to
dividing the people at all times.
As PUDEMO, we strongly condemn this underhand and dictatorial decision
by the state and urge the workers to resist this as mischievous and
aimed to destroy the workers’ unity, and ultimately, the unity of the
people as a whole. This must be not be left unchallenged and all
possible avenues be explored to further expose this desperate and
undemocratic regime. Our duty is to help tinkhundla eat itself up in
its never-ending crisis, we must destroy every semblance of
semi-feudal and royal supremacy wherever it manifest itself.

We demand that the state withdraws its pronouncement on TUCOSWA and
allow the workers to pursue their agenda of socio-economic justice
which is the only way our country will ever reach the destination we
all are collectively striving towards, a just and democratic society.

Finally, we urge our people and the whole world to stand with us
during this week of action as we prepare for one of the most decisive
battles in our long history of struggle as the people of Swaziland. We
shall be engaging the enemy directly, as we always do, without
apology. Intimidation and state terror are not going to make us back
off, hence our call to all our dear friends to join us in whatever way
in this historic act of history in the writing.

>From the 11th April till the 13th we shall be occupying all the
streets of our country as freedom fighters in defence of what belongs
to us, the people. We shall also be actively joining our National
Prayer day as organized by our umbrella body, the SUDF on Saturday and
for that we salute the faith based organisations and churches for
their unflinching role in standing for democracy and against the demon
of royal oppression.
PUDEMO lives!
