Hi all of you

It is amazing that one of the very few solidarity movements in this world, and outside South Africa, who are interested in and supports a democratic revolution in Swaziland, is constantly being discredited.

Africa Contact, which has its roots in the struggle against apartheid and imperialism, is composed of volunteers in a number of work groups. It's the volunteers who are responsible for our work, including our work in Swaziland. Our small secretariat supports the volunteers in their work. We receive neither fat salaries nor allowances. But the coffee is free, it has to be said.

Our Mandela Fund was established back in the '80s with the view of supporting the struggle against apartheid in South Africa (read ANC and its alliance partners). Today the Fund's purpose is to collect money for popular movements in Africa. There are several in Swaziland who have benefited from this over the past 10 years or more.

Who we support and how we support the democracy movement in Swaziland is our choice and it's done in close cooperation with our partners in the country. We understand those who have not been in a situation where they could receive support from Africa Contact believe that this is a mistake and that we have totally misunderstood what is happening in Swaziland. It is known that there are different strategies for enabling a democratization as well as social and economic reforms, which the country so desperately needs. Africa Contact do not believe in neither violence nor do we believe that talking with a regime that will not engage in talks is the way forward. We know that only by mobilizing and organizing for democracy is it possible to force the regime to its knees.

If members from this forum are interested to read more about our association's work they are more than welcome to do so on our website: www.afrika.dk And our news section on Swaziland: http://www.afrika.dk/sektion/Nyheder%2Bfra%2BSwaziland

Stiff Kitten or Rigamortis: Dead Cats of the Donor Industry

In March 2010 Peter Kenworthy began posting on
www.stiffkitten.wordpress.com and writes regularly about Swaziland,
Western Sahara and other issues, such as multi-nationals and "football
as an opiate" of the people. He is associated with South Africa Kontact
(SAK) of Denmark, has visited Sd, works closely with Dumezweni Dlamini
of Foundation for Socio-Economic Justice
<http://stiffkitten.wordpress.com/2010/10/04/the-foundation-of-the-democratic-movement-in-swaziland/>
(FSEJ)
is apparently unhappy with the "democratic movement" in the Kingdom!

Yesterday's post entitled "The democratic movement that cried wolf"
lashes out at SSN, April 12 Uprising, and PUDEMO but seems to praise his
own protege, SFEJ. His title alludes to the children's fable in which a
young boy calls out to the villagers that the sheep are in danger of a
wolf. His allusion displays a pedantic and patronizing tone. What's the
moral of his story - no one will come to your revolution now?

Amazingly recent issues are back-grounded as the donor industry takes
aim at the democratic movement. So now the political system is not the
target and seemingly too many were unimpressed that not enough blood is
flowing in the streets of Swaziland. Oh shame, the bourgeois papers
wasted money heading to Sd but didn't get their story! Unfortunately
Rooney's "many contacts...were bitterly disappointed that nothing
happened" but who exactly called off the protest on April 12, 2011? Why
has Peter omitted these facts - who is he protecting in his critique?

Recently a SWAYOCO member was hospitalized but rigamortis has set in as
Peter's Stiff Kitten selected to ignore this event, why? Yet, if you
look at the website you'll still notice the FREE MAXWELL Campaign is
still posted - but Max is out (and so is Musa, whom they callously chose
to ignore). So it's business as usual for the donor world and the
subscript reads: "MAX brings in the cash but unfulfilled uprisings don't
add to our Mandela Fund".

For Peter to take aim at the "democratic movement" he is purposely
diverting attention from the central issues in Sd. One may even say he
is retaliating because of the recent exposing of information concerning
SAK and it donations to Sd. Remember they have stated: "/DANIDA from
Denmark does not give support to Swaziland. But we ... gives approx. R10
million for strengthening the democracy movement in Swaziland. Our
support, among others, SNUS, Ex-miners, SUDF, FSEJ, SFTU, SFL, SWAPOL
and many more. We have also supported PUDEMO for several years. How much
we support each with is a matter between us and our partners./"//

So it's a lucrative business as money floats in through the
"gate-keeper", the CEO of the donor industry. We need to ask the
intention of this article: is SAK upset that the Mandela Foundation is
investigating their use of Madiba's name and the SAK "Mandela Fund"? Are
they sour that their R10 million isn't "productive" and not as sell-able
after 2011? Would they be in a better financial situation if more Sipho
Jele's were dead?
