E.C.A.S. – Networking Tomorrow's Art For An Unknown Future
Zum Start des E.C.A.S-Netzwerkes steht für eine neues Projekt, das
sich auf das E.C.A.S-Thema 2011 "Festival as a Lab" bezieht, eine
Förderung in Höhe von 10.000 Euro zur Verfügung. Gesucht werden
Projekte, die verstanden als Experiment, Prototyp oder
Versuchsanordnung, neue Formen von Kunstobjekten, Technologien oder
Partizipationsmöglichkeiten praktisch in das besondere Setting eines
Festivals integrieren. Das akzeptierte Projekt wird 2011 auf den
Festivals club transmediale (Berlin, Februar 2011), FutureEverything
(Manchester, Mai 2011) und CYNETART (Dresden, November 2011)
präsentiert.
Einreichungsschluss ist der 24. Oktober 2010.

Zum Thema "Festival as a Lab" wurde das E.C.A.S.-Netzwerk durch das
FutureEverything-Festival inspiriert, das als "living lab for
prototyping the future" konzipiert und gestaltet ist. Die E.C.A.S.-
Festivals verstehen sich als experimentelle Orte oder als
Laboratorien, wo mit zukunftsweisender Kunst, Musik und Ideen
experimentiert werden kann.
Gesucht werden Projekte, die gleichermaßen Festivalpublikum und -
künstler in ein partizipatives Experiment einbeziehen, das eine neue
Art von Kunstwerk, von Beteiligung kreiert, ein neuartiges Verständnis
von Kunst oder Technologie lebt oder innovative Präsentationsformen
entwickelt, die Kunst auf inspirierende Art präsentieren. Die
Einreichungen sollten sich dem speziellen Veranstaltungsformat
Festival annehmen und die Festivalumgebung in ein Labor oder Ort der
Experimente verwandeln.

E.C.A.S. – Networking Tomorrow's Art For An Unknown Future
To launch the E.C.A.S. network, a Euro 10.000 Commission is available
for a new project responding to the ECAS 2011 theme of Festival as
Lab. This call for proposals seeks projects that take the form of an
experiment, a prototype or a trial of a new type of art object,
technology or form of participation, and that make use of the setting
of the festival in an inventive way. The successful project will be
shown at the festivals CTM (Berlin, February 2011), FutureEverything
(Manchester, May 2011) and CYNETART (Dresden, November 2011).
The deadline for submissions is 24th October 2010.

The theme Festival as Lab is inspired by the FutureEverything
festival, which is conceived and designed as a 'living lab' for
prototyping the future. The E.C.A.S. festivals are experimental spaces
or laboratories where we can experiment and play with future art,
music and ideas. We are looking for projects that engage the festival
audience and artists in a participatory experiment in creating a new
kind of artwork, a new form of participation, new understanding on art
or technology, or a new and innovative way of presenting inspirational
art. Proposals should experiment with the festival format,
transforming the festival environment into a lab or experimental space.
