Exhibiting artists:

Bernhard Buhmann /1979/ works predominantly in painting. He places his subjects in a surrealistic, stage-like settings made up of spaces, backspaces, temporarily-positioned walls. The spaces are not based on any typical models. Buhmann refers to influences from everywhere, from everyday life as well as from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. But he is not reproducing. In 2007, he was the winner of the Cologne Art Award, in 2008 he was nominated for the Strabag Art Award. (http://www.castyourart.com/en/2008/07/14/bernhard-buhmann-painter-characters-roles-spaces/)

Alan Cicmak /1976/ received a degree in the field of film and video at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart in Germany. In his works he combines spatial installations with film. In his works narration does not express itself any more in film, but in the union between sculpture and cinematic projection. Narration is carried out by the projection onto the sculpture and therefore breaking it up into space. Cinematic space, cinematic time and story is led back by the sculpture in its purest form – in the perspective. /www.alan-cicmak.com/

David Eisl /1985/ presents a series of automats. Each of them accomplishes a monotonic, consistent action. They are nothing else but a trap. The promise of scientific objectivity – as being insinuated for example by the process of counting or spatial seclusion of every automat – is getting reneged by an inherent artificiality; which means that the attempt to create “realities” by imitation in fact only adds to the level of irreality. /www.david-eisl.net/

Julia Maurer /1983/ paints in her small format paintings the uncanny, suspended between the familiar of everyday surrounding and estranged of unknown and enigmatic territory, a stage for tormented feelings of aroused intensity, a house of dreams and desires, awaiting its fulfillment, but rather condemned to failure and oblivion. Reduced, ascetic colour palette and almost naive and sublime painterly style execute anonymous „typical“ characters and the most banal, almost iconic housing architecture with a radically objective coldness, but also with a convincing personal truth of an inner experience. /from the text by Adam Budak/.

Stirn Prumzer is an artistic group which goal in its works is to unmask a desolate reality. They are permanently challenging the borders of reality. They try to compose a dense “Gesamtkunstwerk” connecting various, often contrasting, media and art forms with the excessive desire for formal freedom. In their shows works are not just shown; they are pushed into new contexts by a crude mixture of performance, concert, exhibition, fashion show and orgy. /from the text in DAMPF, A Sauna`s Family Magazine.
