Hi Nicolas and everyone, That's a nice suggestion (although I nearly deleted your mail due to its subject line...). Maybe some briefing on the advantages and disadvantages of WordLikeObject, ClonableArray and ClonableIntArray would be good to have before embarking on a journey like this.
Another question: should we piggyback on any of the functionality in the crystals framework, or rewrite stuff from scratch? I'm a bit scared of having to work with crystals since I don't even know their definition, but if we already have a good __iter__ for the crystal of semistandard skew tableaux, it would probably be a waste of time to rewrite it from scratch...
