I'm sure this is a direct result of you upgrading sage in vmware and the default notebook location changing. Try this: login: manage password: sage bash$ sudo su password: sage bash$ cd /home/notebook bash$ sage -notebook sage_notebook This might work. I can't give you something I'm 100% certain about because my copy of the sage vmware image is only in my office and I'm not there.
