I have at least 9 test machines, including 3 64-bit linux machines,
and the above error doesn't happen on any of them.   In fact
"All tests pass" on all of my machines.  So it's probably fairly
architecture specific?  What *exactly* are you using?  OS, hardware,
etc.?
