One of the main reasons for all this is that running trac is increasingly unsustainable; it has bus factor below 1/2 (sic!), it is expensive, etc. Besides, given limited bandwidth of our release manager, having to worry about 2 different streams of contributions is too much. Another reason for not doing that is that importing of tickets/issues will get too complicated.
