You are the second person in a week reporting this problem on Gentoo.
Having talked to you in IRC I will just repeat what I said there:
* clisp sucks - I have seen it break on more systems than any other
component in Sage by a wide margin
* we are switching to ecl in Sage 3.3 ought in about a week
